Notary ID Requirements
Acceptable Forms of Identification
Identification MUST be **current or issued within the last 5 years**, contain a photograph, physical description, and signature.
- **U.S. Driver's License** or Identification Card
- **U.S. Passport** (or foreign passport stamped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection)
- **Foreign Government-Issued Passport** (must contain photograph and signature)
- **U.S. Military Identification Card**
Unacceptable Forms of Identification
Documents that do **not** meet the statutory requirements cannot be used for notarization purposes.
- **Social Security Cards** or Birth Certificates (no photo/physical description)
- **Expired ID** or ID issued more than five years ago.
- **Credit Cards** or other forms of temporary paper identification.
- **ID without a photo** or a signature (e.g., library card).
Notary Limitations: What We Cannot Do
As state-commissioned officers, Notaries Public must adhere to strict legal boundaries. We cannot provide legal assistance or notarize documents that violate state law.
Documents We **Cannot** Notarize
- Documents that are **blank** or contain **missing information** that must be filled in.
- Documents signed **outside the notary's presence**. The signer must personally appear.
- Documents where the signer appears **confused or coerced** (lacks mental capacity or assent).
- Documents where the notary has a **direct financial interest** in the transaction.
Actions We **Cannot** Perform
- **Provide legal advice** or counsel regarding the documents or transaction.
- **Select the type of notarial act** (e.g., acknowledgement vs. jurat) for the signer.
- **Prepare, draft, or complete** any document for the signer (we only notarize signatures).
- **Certify copies** of public records (like birth/death certificates, which must be obtained from the issuing agency).

2. Service Scope and Disclaimer
Pink Notaries provides mobile and remote online notarization services. **We are not attorneys and do not provide legal advice.** Our role is strictly limited to verifying identity, witnessing signatures, and administering oaths or affirmations as required by law. We cannot advise on the content or effect of any document.
3. Appointments and Fees
All appointments are subject to availability. Cancellations must be made at least 2 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time to avoid a cancellation fee. Fees for services are clearly communicated prior to the appointment and are non-refundable once the notarization process has been completed.
